Worked example

A venture fund with 80 investors

An FME wants to back start-ups with money from about 80 large investors.

Result: Restricted scheme — Category I or II (close-ended). A Venture Capital scheme allows not more than 50 investors (Reg 20(1)), so with more investors a close-ended restricted scheme fits better.
